Treatment at Forest View Hospital

Forest View Hospital approaches treatment with the belief that moderate to severe mental illness results from the interaction of biological, psychological and social factors. We thoroughly evaluate each of these areas, and provide treatment through a physician-led, multidisciplinary group of clinicians. Our treatment focuses on strengthening age-appropriate coping skills while assisting patients in overcoming problem areas.

Treatment programs are individualized and include the patient as an important member of the treatment team. Our purpose is to promote the maximum cognitive, social, physical, behavioral and emotional development in each of our patients in the most caring manner.

For Children and Adolescents

Forest View Hospital’s Child and Adolescent Program uses evidence-based practices to provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for those with emotional and behavioral difficulties. These practices may include trauma-informed treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and substance abuse services.

Our treatment program is designed to meet the unique and often complex needs of the child or adolescent. The programs incorporate the family, school and provider system into treatment.
Treatment goals include stabilization of the presenting symptoms, education and training for the family, development of skills to manage mental illness and ego-strength training. Treatment levels can be either inpatient hospitalization for patients requiring 24-hour supervision or partial hospitalization for those needing a less structured environment. Treatment within these levels of care can include specialty programs such as eating disorder and co-occurring disorder (COD) programs.

For Adults

Treatment programs at Forest View Hospital are tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient. Our programs use evidence-based practices to provide assessments, diagnosis and treatment for those with psychiatric symptoms or illnesses. Goals of treatment include stabilization of presenting symptoms, skills development to help manage mental illness, aftercare planning and support-system involvement and education.

Treatment levels include inpatient hospitalization for patients requiring 24-hour supervision or partial hospitalization for those who can receive treatment with less structure. Treatment within these levels of care can include specialty programs such as eating disorder treatment, psychological trauma treatment and co-occurring disorder treatment.
